I believe in divine intervention. You can pray and ask God to help your wife become receptive so that you are in a position to communicate. You can also ask God to create an environment to cause her to see the need for communications. Finally you can ask God to allow the truth that you are living in life to outshine her perceptions so that she will know you for who you are and not who she perceives you to be. God does answer prayer. I would also recommend calling 3ABN Pastorial Department for help and resources. See my about page for details.

If she listens, things may work out. But if not? How does a husband change the perceptions the wife has and keeps hanging onto and does not want to change? Communication is indeed very important but how does a husband communicate with an unwilling party?

Thank you for your comment. Unless you both are remarried or otherwise committed, it is never too late to start again. I knew a couple married, divorced, remarried, divorced again then winding up back together after 12 years of each of their second failed marriage. They are still together. Have a blessed life.

I think you're right on with the vows part. You vowed to God and other believers to love, honor and cherish your spouse not until you "fall out of love" or "fall out of excitement" but until either person dies! That's pretty clear. Give it everything you have so that you will regret nothing later. Keep up the good material!

Thank you so much for your balanced comment. God has a divine order when it is followed marriages are a heaven in this troubled earth. God - then man- then wife - then kids. That will never change. But when a man takes his position if he is led of God he will only do what God would do in leading his wife. God leads through love, compassion, support, mercy, loving correction and encouragement just to name a few.

And of course, if anyone is confused about how men are to love their wives, the bible is quite specific:

“…love your wives as Christ loved the church, and gave himself up for her...” from Ephesians 5, and also in the same chapter, “… husbands should love their wives as their own bodies…” Interesting in that it does not say “people, love your spouses as Christ loved the Church” This is addressed only to men.

If there is any doubt about beatings, contemplate, in the relationship between Jesus and us, who it was that submitted to beatings and the cross. That is the pattern we husbands are to emulate.

I also look within the Holy Trinity as the reality which marriage helps us understand, and from which we need to understand marriage. The Son submits to the Father, but the Son is co-equal with the Father, and is in no way subordinate in honor or dignity to the Father.

-Blessings
